Gerard Baillely is Senior Vice President – Research and Development, Global Corporate Functions for the Procter and Gamble Company. Gerard joined P&G in 1985 in R&D, after graduating from Lycée Descartes Tours in France in Mathematiques, Superieures & Speciales and from the Ecole Superieure de Chimie Industrielle de Lyon for Chemistry. During his 38-year career, he has created a portfolio of upstream products that addresses consumer needs across different categories such as Fabric Care, Oral Care, Home Care and P&G Professionals. In his current role, Gerard is leading the company-wide R&D capabilities to advance the speed, impact and external credibility of Industrial research at P&G (across capabilities like Analytical, Computing, Data & Modeling, and Bio and Life Sciences). Externally, besides being a member of the Board of Advisers UW-Madison Department of Chemistry, Gerard is a member of the board of director for several non-profit and professional associations: Living Well Collaborative, a non-profit innovation organization in Cincinnati promoting the development of products and services across the life stages of consumers, AOCS (American Oil Chemist’s Society) and the Chemical Sciences and Technology Board within the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine. Gerard was awarded the Chevalier de L’Ordre National du Mérite distinction by the President of France in 2018. Gerard is the 2022 recipient of the Henry Whalen, Jr. Award from the Division of Business Management and Development of ACS for his outstanding contributions to the Chemical Enterprise.
