Ann Pease

Ann Caviani Pease is a retired partner from Dechert LLP, a law firm with offices in 30 locations throughout the world. Prior to retiring, Pease served on Dechert’s Policy Committee, a 12-member elected governing body responsible for formulating policy and strategy, and co-chaired its global Intellectual Property Practice Group. Prior to election to the Policy Committee, Pease served on a subcommittee of a strategic planning committee tasked with promulgating the firm’s personal commitments and guiding principles, as well as on a task force focusing on Diversity & Inclusion.

As intellectual property group co-chair Pease counseled and supported intellectual property partners on business plans, co-authored the intellectual property practice group strategic plan, and identified revenue growth opportunities in a variety of life sciences and other legal markets. She also developed career opportunities for associates and mentored women associates.

As a lawyer, Pease advised clients on all aspects of patent counseling, including life cycle management, post-issuance proceedings, patent portfolio development and restructuring, peer review of patent portfolios, transactional and financing IP due diligence, and offensive and defensive patent enforcement strategy. Most recently, she advised biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical companies on complex intellectual property strategy, including patent life cycle management for developmental and marketed products, and patent enforcement strategies in connection with Hatch-Waxman litigations. Throughout her career, Pease was recognized as a leading lawyer by her peers in numerous publications.

Pease holds a J.D. from Stanford Law School, a doctorate in chemistry (biophysical) from the University of California at Berkeley and a bachelor’s in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
