Department Spotlight: Peter Jaeger

Peter Jaeger, Outreach Program Manager, and his family

I love being able to connect the work that people accomplish with the public to help them think about ways that Chemistry can be useful in their lives.

  • Meet Peter Jaeger.  Peter has been working for the department for just 7 months and most recently moved to UW after working in K-12 education for 27 years as a middle school and high school science teacher, cross-country coach, and science teacher leader for the Madison Metro School District. He holds a BS in genetics, an MS in natural resources, and an MS in sport management. His position helps faculty, staff, and students connect their work with the public and advance the department’s outreach vision. His role uses research and education to inspire people to think critically about important issues in their community and to empower them to advocate for solutions. He says, “I like supporting people in their work here and collaborating with them to impact the people we come in contact with. Peter and his wife have four adult kids (ages 20-26) that they spend time visiting. He also likes to run, play golf, and ultimate frisbee.
