Meet Ariel Andrea. Ariel holds a BS in Chemistry and an MS in Library Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Before UW, she was a science librarian at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, and a chemist at Quaker Oats Research and Development in Barrington, Illinois. Now at UW-Madison for more than 12 years, she provides chemical information reference and instruction for researchers across campus. She also supports our Electronic Laboratory Notebook service, and our scholarly communications services; and aids with funder compliance for publications, impact reporting, copyright, and reuse issues. She recently took on more leadership responsibilities in the Science Libraries but her connection to Chemistry will not be changing. According to Ariel, “The partnership between the Chemistry Department and the Libraries was built over time by my predecessors, and I am honored to continue strengthening it.” Beyond work, Ariel enjoys traveling with her husband and video games and says, “I’m one of those weird librarians that doesn’t read, although I do love a good cardigan.” She says she is a “proud childless cat-lady.”
